Team Penske Update
Penske Racing Partners,
The Team wanted to pass along an update this morning following yesterday's tragedy at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. As you all have probably heard or seen, there was a terrible multi-car accident just 12 laps into the IZOD IndyCar Series season finale on Sunday afternoon.
Verizon Team Penske driver Will Power was involved in the crash that ultimately claimed the life of driver Dan Wheldon. Will was complaining of upper back and neck pain after the accident and he was transferred to University Medical Center in Las Vegas where was evaluated and released with no evidence of significant injuries, according to INDYCAR medical director, Dr. Michael Olinger.
Will and his wife Elizabeth are doing fine and, like all of us, their thoughts and prayers are with the Wheldon family at this very difficult time. Will and Elizabeth will be traveling home to Charlotte today and he will not be competing at the V8 Supercar race in Surfers Paradise, Australia next weekend as he originally planned.
Penske Racing thanks all of our partners for their continued support during this tough time and throughout the entire 2011 racing season.
